This training will strengthen the remote sensing capabilities on the use of SAR data for disaster monitoring. The focus of the training will be put on the application-oriented topics such as accessing SAR data, SAR image visualization, SAR image interpretation, change detection, and the analysis of interferometric SAR (InSAR) data. These techniques will be applied to a range of hazards-related applications such as volcano monitoring, earthquake deformation mapping, wild-fire tracking, and flood mapping.
The goal of the training is to provide attendees with an intuitive understanding of the SAR image content and with a range of analysis techniques to apply SAR data to the monitoring of natural hazards. Processing procedures will be explained using relevant data sets from active radar systems.
